As part of the World Oral Health Day 2017, the Dental Board of Australia (the Board) is launching a video for dental practitioners: An overview of your obligations as a registered dental practitioner.
While World Oral Health Day 2017 primarily targets patients, dental practitioners play a crucial role in educating patients and in promoting good oral health.
The Board is taking this opportunity to encourage dental practitioners to support this special day for patients and the dental profession worldwide and, to remind all dental practitioners that they must meet their obligations associated with being registered.
As the regulator of dental practitioners, one of the Board’s objectives is to keep the public safe by ensuring that only dental practitioners who are suitably trained and qualified to practise in a competent and ethical manner are registered. The Board has in place specific standards, policies, guidelines and code in order to achieve this objective.
The video provides an overview of the dental practitioners’ obligations which are described in the Board’s standards, policies, guidelines and code. It highlights some of the key requirements for dental practitioners to maintain registration and provide guidance to the practitioners on expected behaviours.
It is important to note that the video does not cover all the details of the requirements and that dental practitioners should check the Board’s website for further details.
You can also view the Board’s video on the Vimeo and YouTube channels of the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
