Continuing Professional Development Resources

04 Feb 2016

The revised registration standard for continuing professional development (CPD) has been in effect since 1 December 2015.

These explain what dental practitioners need to do to meet the Board’s CPD requirements.

Dental practitioners are required to complete a minimum of 60 hours of CPD activities over a three-year CPD cycle.

Each three-year CPD cycle covers three registration periods. The start and end dates of the three-year CPD cycle will change in 2016.

Current CPD cycle

1 July 2013 to 30 June 2016

Next CPD cycle

1 December 2016 to 30 November 2019

Transition period

There is a five month transition period between the current and the next CPD cycles from 1 July 2016 to 30 November 2016.

During this period of transition we encourage dental practitioners to continue to undertake CPD activities. Any CPD activities that dental practitioners complete during this time will count towards the new cycle starting on 1 December 2016. CPD hours completed in this five-month period cannot count towards the cycle ending on 30 June 2016.
