Dental practitioners have until 30 November to renew their registration to avoid paying a late fee.
More than 21,000 dental practitioners hold general, specialist or non-practising registration with the Dental Board of Australia.
Practitioners should act on the series of email and hard copy reminders being sent to them by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), on behalf of the Board. Anyone who hasn’t received a reminder to renew should phone AHPRA on 1300 419 495.
Renewal applications received by AHPRA after the registration expiry date will incur a late payment fee in addition to the annual renewal fee. This is outlined in the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, as in force in each state and territory (the National Law).
Dental practitioners whose application for renewal of general or specialist registration is received on time, or during the following one month late period, can continue practising while their application is processed.
Practitioners who do not apply to renew their registration by 31 December 2015 will have lapsed registration. They will be removed from the Register of Dental Practitioners and will not be able to practise their profession in Australia.
