National Board reminds dental practitioners to renew registration by 30 November

21 Nov 2014

Dental practitioners have less than two weeks to renew their registration with the Dental Board of Australia to avoid paying a late fee.

About 20,300 dental practitioners with general, specialist or non-practising registration are due to renew registration by 30 November.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), on behalf of the Dental Board of Australia, is sending registered practitioners a series of email and hard copy reminders to renew. Anyone who hasn’t received a reminder to renew should phone AHPRA on 1300 419 495.

Renewal applications received by AHPRA after the registration expiry date will incur a late payment fee in addition to the annual renewal fee. This is outlined in the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, as in force in each state and territory (the National Law).

Dental practitioners whose application is received on time, or during the following one month late period, can continue practising while their application is processed.

Dental practitioners who do not apply to renew their registration by 31 December 2014 will have lapsed registration. They will be removed from the Register of Dental Practitioners and will not be able to practise their profession in Australia.
