These resources help dental practitioners understand their obligations under the revised Scope of practice registration standard, including the strengthened guidelines. Both documents are in effect on 1 July 2020.

You must only perform dental treatment for which you have been educated, trained and are competent, within the definition of dentistry and your dental practitioner division or registration¹.

As a member of a healthcare team, you should refer patients to an appropriate practitioner when the requirements of patient care are outside your scope of practice.
